I spent several days studying research on one of today’s most hyped ingredients — PDRN. Yes, I didn’t just read brand promises — that’s not how I work. Instead, I carefully reviewed a large number of scientific studies; fortunately, there are plenty of them and they’re all publicly available. Here’s my conclusion:
You know how with some trendy ingredients there are questions — not all of them have a solid evidence base, and marketing often runs ahead of science. But when I dove into the research on PDRN, I was honestly blown away: as of now, there are numerous studies proving its effectiveness, so there’s no real reason to doubt how it works (its development has been ongoing for over 30 years!).
What Is PDRN
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is an ingredient derived from highly purified DNA from salmon milt/sperm (DNA fragments), and nowadays it can also be obtained from plant cells.
And by the way, it was originally developed as a component for healing chronic, hard-to-heal wounds in regenerative medicine! Only later, thanks to its remarkable properties, did it make its way into cosmetics.
What Does It Do?
It repairs cellular damage, heals and regenerates the skin, actively stimulates collagen production, provides anti-inflammatory effects, and reduces hyperpigmentation.
That’s why it’s beneficial for:

Interesting Figures from One Study on Plant-Based PDRN from Ginseng (Panax PDRN):
- Human skin model wounds were treated with 5% PDRN, 50% PDRN, or left untreated
- By day five, re-epithelialization (healing) reached 40.3% in the 5% group, 92% in the 50% group (almost complete healing!), and just 17% in the untreated group
By the way, EGF was also included in this study — its effectiveness was 47.9%. Notably, on day two its results were almost identical to those of 50% PDRN, but over the following days PDRN showed more active recovery, demonstrating its superior long-term effectiveness.
